Porcelain half dolls have been decorating household items since the 1800's. They were used for enhancing tea cosies, pincushions or trinket boxes or were seen at the top of a small whisk broom. Since this time the dolls have seen a resurgence of popularity in the form of tassel dolls for curtain tie backs or ornaments.
In this book the dolls have been dressed in delicate bead crocheted skirts. Some even have long beaded strands as their tassels.
Pre-strung size 11 seed beads and # 8 perle cotton have been used to create these masterpieces.

Most crocheted bags rely on counting beads when stringing them and using a double crochet stitch(sc in USA terms). Jenny has used an alternative approach to achieve both a fair isle effect AND a diverse range of stitches.
Jenny's imagination and love of HISTORY has influenced her designs. She has included a Miser's purse, which has 2 different shaped ends and is secured with rings. It is probably a replica of a GENTLEMAN'S PURSE from the time of gas street lighting.
The FLAPPER'S ROPE NECKLACE is a long rope of beads. This is one of the favorites from this book.
